3 Ways to Use Android Device as a Modem on Laptop/PC

The Android OS is the most popular and most widely use operating system on smart phones now. But do you know you can share your internet connect from these devices on your PC? Well, you can tether Android devices using any of the simple methods explained below, just follow the steps as they are spelled out.

 1. Via wireless technology, using your android phone as an access point. This option is the easiest option of connection that sets up a wireless environment for your personal computer to get connected devoid of a USB cable. The steps to follow are listed bellow:

a. First things first, enable the Wi-Fi service on your personal computer (make sure the wireless card is working)

b. Navigate to settings on your android phone => Wireless and Networks => Tethering and Portable Hotspot (enables your phone's mobile data connection as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot) =>Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot.

c. Provide a SSID and make sure your password contains not less than 8 characters and save. You can then go ahead and search for your phones' SSID on your personal computer amongst other wireless networks available. Go to your browser and open www.padime.com.

2. Via Android applications such as PDANET, it has proved itself as one of the best android applications through its user ratings. PDANET works on all android phones and does not require root access. To make use of PDANET, follow these steps below:

a. Download PDANET on your Android device here.

b.  Download PDANET for your personal computer here (Mac or Windows) and restart after installation is completed.

c. Go to Settings =>developer options => USB debugging.

d. Click on the PDANET application on your Android phone and activate USB tether and click on the PDANET application on your personal computer and enable connect internet. Go to your browser and open www.padime.com.


3. You can tether your Android phone to your computer with a USB cable, to share your phone's internet connection with your computer. This method can be use with Windows Vista, Windows 7&8 and Linux. To connect your Android phone to your computer using the USB tethering method, follow the steps below:

a. Connect your phone with your computer with a USB cable.

b. Once plugged in, just press the Back button on your phone and then go to Settings.

c. Under Wireless & Networks, touch More

d. Then touch Tethering & Portable Hotspot.

e. In the list of options under the Tethering & portable hotspot, check/tick USB tethering.

f. Your phone will then be tethered with your computer and your computer will be connected to the internet automatically. Go to your browser and open www.padime.com .
