BlackBerry to Launch BBM on iOS and Android Soonest

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), perhaps the most unique feature of the BlackBerry operating system, it is set to become a multiplatform service this summer when BBM is set loose as a free application on iOS and Android (this is subject to approval from Apple App Store and Google Play anyway).

Thorten Heins (CEO) reiterating Steve Jobs popular line “One More Thing” during the BlackBerry Live 2013 took the crowd by surprise when he announced that BBM benefits is ready to be taken to its fiercest rivals, Android and iOS.

This development means that once the application is available you can connect with your friends and family on these other mobile phones, there is even some hush-hush talk about a PC version.

BBM set the standard way back for the instant messaging with fast, reliable and secure layer of engagement to users, where they can view if their messages are yet to be delivered and read by the other parties.

Upon the release of the multiplatform BBM service, you can expand your real time connection to friends and colleagues alike on other supported smart phone platforms.

The first version of multiplatform BBM on iOS and Android, users are expected to be able to experience some BBM features like: the immediacy of BBM chats, multi-person chats, voice note sharing, BB groups, where BBM users may set up to a group of 30 people and share calendar, photos, files and more.

Check Some Quick Facts about BBM
  • BBM has more than 60 million monthly active users.
  • BBM has more than 51 million daily users who are connecting with friends and colleagues averaging an hour and half hour every day.
  • BBM users send and receive more than 10 billion messages each day, nearly twice as many messages per user per day as compared to other mobile instant messaging apps.
  • Nearly half of the messages sent are read within 20 seconds of being received, depicting how truly engaging the BBM is.

What do you think, is the timing right or is it already late for BBM?
